  Melon \Mel"on\ (m[e^]l"[u^]n), n. [F., fr. L. melo, for melopepo
     an apple-shaped melon, Gr. mhlope`pwn; mh^lon apple + pe`pwn
     a species of large melon; cf. L. malum apple. Cf.
     Marmalade.]
