Rest \Rest\ (r[e^]st), v. i. [imp. & p. p. Rested; p. pr. & vb. n. Resting.] [AS. restan. See Rest, n.] 1. To cease from action or motion, especially from action which has caused weariness; to desist from labor or exertion.
