  Lathe \Lathe\ (l[aum][th]), n. [AS. l[=ae][eth]. Of uncertain
     origin.]
     Formerly, a part or division of a county among the
     Anglo-Saxons. At present it consists of four or five
     hundreds, and is confined to the county of Kent. [Written
